Really simple to use for fail safe, tasty pizza dough. Could tell my pizza was freshly made and not a ready made store bought pizza. Crispy crust and cooked perfectly in the center.
Not exactly the same as an authentic Italian restaurant pizza, but a good substitute.
I saw a recipe for a Neapolitan pizza from the guys who created The Pizza Pilgrims I wanted to cook. Unfortunately my dough making skills haven't improved, so I used dough from the Northern dough company that I first reviewed last year.
When you have made your dough (or got it out of the packet in my case) you use your fingers and ball of your hand to push out the dough before placing over the back of your hand and pulling out to a thin large pizza base.
Heat a large frying pan until hot, then put the base in and then the toppings on - seasoned chopped tomatoes, Parmesan, fresh basil, mozzarella and a drizzle of olive oil.
After a couple of minutes in the pan, the pizza is finished off under a hot grill.
The result - really simple and very, very tasty. Great pizza - can't wait to cook it again, and really hope I can get to Pizza Pilgrims restaurant sometime soon!! I wish they'd open one up in Manchester.
