The first Hawaiian pizza was created in 1962 at the small Satellite Restaurant in Chatham, Ontario by Sam Panopoulos and his brother Nick, who were business partners for approximately 50 years. Their original Hawaiian pizza consisted of a mix of cheese and tomato, along with fresh bits of ham and pineapple.
One of the reasons why this recipe took off so well for hungry people all across the country is the simple fact that ham and pineapple just go so well together.

It's generally topped with a black olive.
