If you love great food and service don't go to Romazzino's Ristorante in Nantwich. I had heard such good things about this restaurant from friends that when we planned to go to Nantwich for the Jazz festival I jumped at the chance and booked a table for a group of us.
We had chosen an early booking of 4pm so that we we well prepared for an evening of Jazz. The restaurant is a charming typical Italian Ristorante in a nice location. However, the first sign it wasn't going to live up to our expectations was when we ordered a couple of garlic breads to start with. I would of normally expected to be brought two for a table of six but the staff brought three.
Next one of our party ordered a glass of the house red, which was a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It was badly oxidized, probably from a bottle that had been open too long.
On to starters. Two of our party had ordered the Calamari. They were both cold and looked suspiciously like they were from a packet. The staff took them away and brought them back properly cooked but they still weren't great.
Finally for the main course one of our party ordered Chicken Ciabatta and had specifically asked for no mayonnaise, and it came with mayonnaise. After pointing out the problem the staff again were very good at rectifying it, but it shouldn't of happened in the first place.
We were very disappointed having heard such great things about this restaurant. It couldn't have been because they were busy as it was very quite when we were there.
It wasn't a total disaster as most of the food and drink was fine and the staff were very attentive, which is why I'm awarding Romazinno's three and not one pizza slice.
