I never leave any Pizza in a restaurant - if I can't eat it then and there, it goes in a doggy bag for later. Unfortunately on this occasion my left overs didn't make it home!
It all started well at Cafe Salar in Lymm. We shared a pizza garlic bread - great base that tasted hand made, lots of yummy garlic butter - delicious.
I ordered a Cafe Salar Margherita pizza. What could go wrong? mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce, perhaps a sprig of basil to finish it off?
When it arrived, the same great pizza base cooked perfectly. However, no simple pizza toppings - the pizza was smothered with a thick, rich sauce that tasted as if it was made with predominately with tomato puree, then topped with plenty of cheese.
At first I managed to scrape off much of the tomato to try and eat the rest of the pizza, but eventually I was overpowered by tomato, and stuck to the crust of the pizza. What a shame - will stick to the garlic bread in future.
