Mike Hopwood reviewed the Dr Oetker Ristorante Pizza Hawaii on allie's original site 'pizzandgarlicbread.com' on 14th May 2002 (see below). I thought it was time to go back and see if the pizza had improved from his original rating of 1 out of 6 pizza slices.
Mike's original review ... The topping contents are predictable from the name, although they could have called it a pineapple pizza and broke no laws. The pineapple is plentiful, but the ham is very conspicuous in it's absence - a total of 5 pieces graced my pizza, not the almost 20 pieces I counted on the package during one of more anorak moments.
So ... have things improved? Well there are now definitely more than 5 pieces of ham toppings. The base does suffer in common with this type of cheap pizza in that it tastes quite biscuity and a long way from a traditional Italian thin crust pizza. I'd have to say that 11 years on it's still a lousy Hawaiian pizza, but a slight improvement on the original.
