The Nero D'Avola Sicilia 2011 is Sicily's signature red wine. The grape itself having been named after the town of Avola in the far southwest of Sicily, where it has been grown for several hundred years.
The wine is a fresh and juicy red. You can taste the ripe black cherry, plums and mocha. There is also a hint of smokiness which just adds to the taste.
This is a fantastic fruity light wine I'd highly recommend to go with any pizza. It's a really good summer red that goes with anything with tomatoes (even though we had it in December in the cold)!
